Scenario Description
In early March the momentum in the area around the city of Kharkov was turning towards the Germans. Manstein's counterattack was pushing the Soviets back and gaining ground on all sides. Gaps were developing between the Soviet 40th and 69th Armies. On March 4 Grossdeutschland Division received its first Tiger tank company. Three days later GD jumped off, attacking towards Bogodukhov to the northwest of Kharkov, while neighboring SS Panzer Corps units headed east toward Kharkov itself. Units of II Company, Grossdeutschland Regiment, were tasked Soviets to clear the area west of Repki Station and ensure that the east-west roadway to Bogodukhov was free of Soviet forces. This would prevent the enemy from breaking out of the trap forming around Kharkov and any possible escape from there to the east. Early that morning the company moved out along with their new Tiger tanks. It would be a challenging task.
