Scenario Description
This was the 84th Division’s baptism of fire, and they had to push forward against stiff German Resistance in terrible weather. Not only did the rains ground the Allied air force, they reduced the farm fields and dirt roads to stretches of deep, sticky mud. In many places, the tanks couldn’t move forward. After a week of hard fighting. the Railsplitters had destroyed the German 183rd Volksgrenadier Division, but the weather and German reinforcements finally stopped the US advance. By that time, the Germans had thrown the 15th Panzergrenadier, 9th Panzer, and 10th SS Panzer Divisions into the fight to halt the 84th Division.
