Scenario Description
The thrust towards the Rhine River by the U.S. XV Corps was threatening to split the German First and Nineteenth Armies, which could lead to the outflanking of the Saar Basin and the destruction of the German forces west of the Rhine. German Field Marshal von Rundstedt needed armored reinforcements for a strong counterattack to prevent an Allied breakthrough. On the 21st of November, the Panzer Lehr Division was handed over to von Rundstedt and sent to Alsace for the counterattack against the advancing American forces.
