Scenario Description
On the day General DeGaulle issued his call from London, one day after Pétain called for ceasefire and Armistice, the French Army fought one last battle. The men who were charged with defending the Maginot Line now had to defend themselves against Guderian's advancing German divisions. For the French, totally surrounded and forgotten by everybody but the enemy, this was a mix of Dunkirk and Stalingrad. The men of the four surrounded French armies attempted to establish a coherent front all along the Marne en Rhin Canal. In the Héming sector, the reduced 37th RIF faced the best elements of the 252nd lnfantry Division. Morning fog filled the valley, and like all their comrades on the front, they couldn't see but they heard the harsh bark of German officers issuing orders, and then the sound of marching boots.

Battle Narrative
Fall Rot (Case Red) was the plan for a German military operation after the success of Fall Gelb (Case Yellow), the Battle of France, an invasion of the Benelux countries and northern France. The Allied armies had been defeated and pushed back in the north to the Channel coast, which culminated in the Dunkirk evacuation. The operation to complete the conquest of France by the German Army began on 5 June 1940.[1] Fall Rot began with a preliminary attack over the river Somme on the Channel Coast to the Seine, beginning on 5 June and the main offensive by Army Group A on 9 June further east over the river Aisne.
