Scenario Description
The 1st Panzer Division entered Belgium without difficulty. The Germans hoped to take Neufcháteau on the same day and then rush to the west. but most of the bridges over the Sure River had been destroyed and, at first, only the division's advanced guard could expect to move on. Bodange was a little village on the road to the west, in a deeply embanked valley. Here stood the Chasseurs Ardennais. It was their first day of war. and they were prepared to resist. However, the Germans' Operation Niwy [more than 600 commandos from the Grossdeutschland regiment were dropped in to their rear] cut the Belgians' communication lines, thus the Chasseurs Ardennais in Bodange never received the order to retreat. Though seriously ootnumhered, they fought like devils to the very end. After six-hours, the battle concluded; 22 Belgians surrendered. The first question the Germans asked them was: "But where are all the others?"
