Scenario Description
During the drive to cross the Moselle River by Patton's Third Army, the Americans had ignored their right flank due to the perceived weakness of the German forces stationed there: but with the 6th Army Group advancing north from their landings in southern France and linking up for a continuous Allied line from the North Sea to the Mediterranean, it was time to reorganize. General Wade H. Haislip's XV Corps was returned to Patton and began a push on the weak German 64th Corps. The Allied army was spearheaded by the French 2nd Armored Division commanded by the famous General Jacques LeClerc and was the only French division separate from General d''armee Jean de Lattre de Tassignye's 1st French Army. LeClerc appreciated both the French speaking Haislip's aggressive style and not being under the command of the ex-Vichy de Lattre. As a counter to this effort, the German 64th Corps was given the newly formed Panzer Brigade 112 commanded by Oberst Horst von Usedom. who advanced toward the small town of Dompaire.
