Scenario Description
On the morning of November 3rd, 1965, B Troop Rifles of the 1/9 responded to sightings of NVA soldiers southwest of the Plel Me special forces camp. After landing, the platoon proceeded north and overran the regimental headquarters and hospital of the NVA 33rd Eiegiment. This sparked a major intelligence gathering operation and high-ranking U.S. officers landed to investigate the scene. In fact, the only thing not landed at Plei The was additional U.S. troops. The NVA launched a hasty diversionary assault to give them the opportunity to extract their battalion that had been isolated by the American attack. As quickly as possible, the other troops of the 1/9 cavalry were landed at the LZ southwest of the hospital and then moved north to reinforce B Troop.

The lifting of the siege by South Vietnamese forces and American air power was followed by the pursuit of the retreating North Vietnamese from 28 October until 12 November, setting the stage for the Battle of Ia Drang.
