Scenario Description
The Battle for Rostov was a seesaw battle. Army Group South, with Ewald von Kleist's 1st Panzer Army in the vanguard, had taken the city by November 21st. But the German lines were over-extended and no longer in position to defend their gains. The Soviet commander, Marshall Timoshenko, launched his counteroffensive all along the German line with waves of Soviet Riflemen, supported by T-34 tanks. The Germans held for some time and even counter-attacked but in the end they were ordered back across the Mius River. This was the first significant German withdrawal of the war.
