Scenario Description
Yorck had pulled his troops back from Waren before Bernadotte could mount an attack. Now, with the light infantry formations from Dupont’s division leading the advance, the French pushed forward to Nossentin. After clearing the Prussians from the woods, Bernadotte found Yorck’s infantry deployed with their right flank anchored on Lake Fleesen, the village of Nossentin in the center and some marshy ground on his left. After the French light cavalry failed to make any progress against Yorck’s defense, Bernadotte ordered his infantry forward, while the cavalry swung around to the right. Again, the cavalry could not make any progress due to the marshy terrain. Drouet’s infantry, however, had better success and drove the Prussians out of the village after some hard fighting. The French attack stalled after Bernadotte was thrown from his horse, giving Yorck the opportunity to once again retire—this time toward Alt Schwerin. One Prussian commander finally showed some tactical expertise.

Battle Narrative
The Battle of Waren-Nossentin on 1 November 1806 saw soldiers of the Kingdom of Prussia led by August Wilhelm von Pletz and Ludwig Yorck von Wartenburg fight a rear guard action against troops of the First French Empire commanded by Marshal Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte. Though forced to give ground, the Prussians successfully kept the French from inflicting serious loss or cutting off any units in this War of the Fourth Coalition action. Waren lies on the northern end of Lake Müritz, about 70 kilometres (43 mi) southeast of Rostock. Nossentin is a small village on the Fleesen See about 15 kilometres (9 mi) due west of Waren.
