Scenario Description
The seminal event that led to Task Force Ranger's fight for their lives was the ambush of an element of the Pakistani contingent of the UNITAF Peacekeeping Force. The Pakistanis were on what they assumed was a routine mission to confiscate a Somali weapons cache, but they had been set up. Waiting in ambush were crack elements of Aidid's well-armed and wellmotivated militia. It was a bleak day for the Pakistanis.

Battle Narrative
The June 5th 1993 attack on Pakistanis was a major confrontation that occurred concurrently in different parts of in the Somali capital of Mogadishu, between Somali citizens & militias against the Pakistani peacekeeping contingent of UNOSOM II. The event marked a seminal moment for the United Nations operation in Somalia. It was deadliest loss of UN peacekeepers since the Congo in 1961 and would consequently lead to UNOSOM II being primarily characterized by the hunt for General Mohammed Farah Aidid, which would directly lead to the 12 July, 1993 Bloody Monday raid and 3-4 October, 1993 Battle of Mogadishu.
