Scenario Description
Five minutes after dawn Group l's “heavy field kitchen's” initiated their attack on Villers-Bretonneux. After passing into no man's land ahead of the accompanying 207RIR, Lotti and unnamed A7V 560 stopped to eliminate machine-gun nests to get the attack moving, while Alter Fritz commanded by Oberleutnant Hans von Skopnik continued towards the town supported (but not for long) by 93RIR. In the town, 2nd East Lancashire scrambled to counter the onrushing threat. The stunned defenders skirmished with the behemoth but inflicted little damage as its commander continued ahead believing friendly infantry had kept pace. On reaching the town's far side, however, Skopnik realized his error. Vulnerable in such a confined environment, and without supporting infantry, he wisely returned the way he had come.
