Scenario Description
In August 1941, SS division Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler advanced in Ukraine between the cities of Vojnessensk and Nikolaïev. The Reconnaissance Group, under command of Kurt Meyer alias “Panzermeyer”, reached Sasselie, an isolated village located in the middle of Soviet troops retreating East. On the morning of August 15th, the Soviet 962th Rifle Regiment, coming from the west, arrived in front of Sasselie. The German ambush waited until the very last moment to open fire, catching the Soviet riflemen in open ground with little chance of escape. In the afternoon, the Soviet army launched a more organized attack with tanks and armored cars, but this assault was repelled. The German armored cars of the Recce Group counter-attacked and mopped up, capturing the last Soviet soldiers on the battlefield.

The Battle of Uman was the German offensive operation against the 6th and 12th Soviet Armies – under the command of Lieutenant General I. N. Muzychenko and Major General P. G. Ponedelin, respectively. The battle occurred during the Kiev defensive operation between the elements of the Red Army's Southwestern Front, retreating from the Lwow salient, and German Army Group South commanded by Field Marshal Gerd von Rundstedt, as part of Operation Barbarossa on the Eastern Front during World War II. The Soviet forces were under overall command of the Southwestern Direction, commanded by Marshal Semyon Budyonny, which included the Southwestern Front commanded by Colonel General Mikhail Kirponos and Southern Front commanded by General Ivan Tyulenev. The battle finished by the encirclement and annihilation of the 6th and 12th armies southeast of Uman.
