Scenario Description
On 12th of July at 8.30h in the morning the Russian radios "shouted" Stal, Stal, Stal (steel, steel, steel) which was the code for an all-out attack. 500 tanks and self-propelled guns of the 5th Guards Tank Army supported by guard infantry were gathered to attacked the German SS divisions. In the center the Pnz Grenadiers of SS-division Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler under command of Joachim Peiper were hit first. SS-division Totenkopf rushed in troops to cover the left flank of LAH. These include Tiger tanks under the command of tank ace Michael Wittmann. The forest area on the right side of the railroad was defended by SS-division Das Reich. The Russians gained ground quickly, but at extreme losses.

The Battle of Prokhorovka was fought on 12 July 1943 near Prokhorovka, 87 kilometers (54 mi) southeast of Kursk in the Soviet Union, during the Second World War. Taking place on the Eastern Front, the engagement was part of the wider Battle of Kursk, and occurred when the 5th Guards Tank Army of the Soviet Red Army attacked the II SS-Panzer Corps of the German Wehrmacht in one of the largest tank battles in military history.
