Scenario Description
The Soviets, desperate to relieve the siege of Leningrad, launched Operation SPARK along a narrow corridor south of Lake Lagoda. The German commander, Generaloberst Georg Lindemann, knowing the Soviets would be attacking, had his troops deployed and well entrenched. They were, however, thinly spread, with divisions covering ten miles of more. Lindemann repeatedly asked for reinforcements, but all that was available were three regiments from Infanterie-Division 96, a combat group from Gebirgsjäger-Division 5, and Kompanie 1 from schwere Panzer-Abteilung 502. This unit was equipped with the new heavy Tiger tank, whose whitewash paint was no help in navigating the wintry woods and swamps of the Leningrad front. The Soviets attacked at dawn with infantry supported by T-34’s and were about to overrun the Germans when the Tigers arrived.

Battle Narrative
Operation Iskra, a Soviet military operation in January 1943 during World War II, aimed to break the Wehrmacht's Siege of Leningrad. Planning for the operation began shortly after the failure of the Sinyavino Offensive. The German defeat in the Battle of Stalingrad in late 1942 had weakened the German front. By January 1943, Soviet forces were planning or conducting offensive operations across the entire German-Soviet front, especially in southern Russia; Iskra formed the northern part of the wider Soviet 1942–1943 winter counter-offensive.
