Scenario Description
On the 18th of January 1942, a battalion of the Japanese 16th Division began infiltrating across the slopes of Mt. Silanganan, where the terrain so rugged and densely forested that I Corps had been unable to form a continuous defensive line. On the 21st, the Japanese force emerged onto the West Road near Kilometer Post 167 and quickly established a strong roadblock position, severing I Corps’ supply route. The first attempt to dislodge them failed. The next morning the Americans counterattacked at both ends of the roadblock.
