Scenario Description
In an effort to stem the tide of the never ending flow of Soviet reinforcements a bold move was planned to destroy the transportation hub at the village of Kovel near the Pripet Marshes. The task was assigned to elements of the German 4th Panzer Army which crashed through the Soviet 2nd Tank Army defenses towards Kovel. This scenario represents Phase 1 of the operation. The struck in an area that was heavily defended by anti-tank guns.

The Battle of Kowel took place during World War I, from 24 July to 8 August 1916. It began with an Austrian counter-attack by Alexander von Linsingen south of Kowel, a city located in the Volyn Oblast (province), in north-western Ukraine. Linsingen intended to halt the Russian offensive under the command of General Aleksei Alekseevich Brusilov.
