Scenario Description
By 17 September, 1939, most of the Polish reserves and heavy equipment from the forces defending the eastern border of Poland had been sent west to help against the German invasion. When the Soviet forces poured over the border there was little left to stop them. Over the course of several days the Poles engaged in a fighting retreat to the south, finding themselves between the advancing Wehrmacht and Red Army. General Orlik-Rückemann ordered his men to launch a brief counteroffensive against the Red Army near the town of Szack. On 28 September, the Poles managed to provoke the Soviets into attacking a defensive position and with carefully coordinated fire, the Poles destroyed a tank unit and swept into the town of Szack, routing the Soviet 52nd Rifle Division. It was a short-lived victory as Soviet reserves flooded into the area, forcing the Poles to continue their retreat to the south.
