Scenario Description
The German 2nd Army and 19th Panzer Corps pushed into Poland as part of Unternehmen Fall Weiss. What seemed like good defensive terrain to the Poles had actually been part of the German Army's training area during World War I so many of the German officers and generals were familiar with it. Despite some minor victories, like the cavalry charge at Krojanty, the German advance swept aside the Polish Resistance. At the start of the battle many of the Polish forces, comprised mainly of the 9th and 27th Infantry Divisions, were not in position. The general confusion, combined with poor communication, meant that the Polish army had to abandon plans for a counter attack. Helped by significant armor support and the guidance of General Heinz Guderian, the Germans almost completely destroyed two divisions and the Czerk Operational Group in the course of five days.

Battle Narrative
The Battle of Tuchola Forest was one of the first battles of World War II, during the 1939 invasion of Poland. The battle began 1 September and ended 5 September with a major German victory. Thanks to poor Polish command and control, as well as German numerical and tactical superiority, the Germans managed to cripple Poland's Army Pomerania and, by breaking through the Polish Corridor, to connect mainland Germany with East Prussia.
