Scenario Description
By October 2, 1939, the battle for Poland was all but over. German command assumed that the Polish defenders were so demoralized that it would only take one German battalion to capture Operational Group Polesie, the only Polish military unit still fighting. General Kleeberg, however, had gathered up the remnants of several different units and they were hardened survivors of previous battles. Although most of the units had lost their heavy equipment, they fought off several days of frontal assaults by motorized German Infantry. Polish armor and air forces were non-existent but the soldiers fought with pride and determination, effectively utilizing the surrounding terrain and their highly mobile cavalry units. Despite several effective counter-attacks and a few tactical victories, General Kleeberg was eventually forced to capitulate on October 6 because of a lack of food and ammunition.
