Scenario Description
The Northwest Soviet Front under Colonel-General Kuznetsov fell back on Barbarossatag (the first day of Unternehmen Barbarossa) before the onslaught of Army Group North under von Leeb. The Germans interpreted this as a general retreat, but Kutznesov was planning a counter-attack. Elements of the Soviet III and XII Mechanized Corps crashed into the XLI Panzer Corps near Raseiniai. The battle lasted four days and resulted in the destruction of the Northwest Front's armor and in Kuznetsov's dismissal. A huge gap opened between the Soviet 8th and 11th armies, and the road to Leningrad was now open to Army Group North.
