Scenario Description
General Guderian's forward Panzers reached the river Semois before the town of Bouillon on the evening of May 11. French cavalry units of the 5th DLC, after having suffered devastating casualties in the prior two days, had fallen back behind the river and blown up the bridges. For Guderian and his armored divisions, this was the last part of their operation through the massif of Ardennes; the next objectives were Sedan and the crossing of the river Meuse. German soldiers attacked on the morning of May 12. In Alle, they found a ford and crossed the river Semois. In Bouillon they built a pontoon bridge over the river and continued their advance, despite the Resistance of a battalion from the 295th Infantry Regiment who were entrenched in the town. In the nearby forest, units of the 5th Light Cavalry Division resisted the German advance for a while with the help of some fortified houses. By the end of the day, the first elements of the Panzer Divisions had reached the river Meuse. The massif of Ardennes had been passed.

Battle Narrative
The Battle of France, also known as the Fall of France, was the German invasion of France and the Low Countries during the Second World War. On 3 September 1939 France had declared war on Germany, following the German invasion of Poland. In early September 1939, France began the limited Saar Offensive. By mid-October, the French had withdrawn to their start lines. In six weeks from 10 May 1940, German forces defeated Allied forces by mobile operations, conquering France, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, ending land operations on the Western Front until the Normandy landings on 6 June 1944. Italy entered the war on 10 June 1940.
