Scenario Description
Louisburg was the strongest fortress in French or British America and guarded the entrance to the St. Lawrence and New France. The key to taking the fortress was establishing a beach head on Ile Royale which required an amphibious landing at well defended points. British General Wolfe lead the main attack with an amphibious landing at Fresh Water Cove. Lt. Col. Saint Julien lay waiting behind entrenchments near the landing beach. French guns swept key points along the approaches. As the British landed on the beach the French opened with a devastating fire. Several boats full of light infantry moved towards a hill that shielded them from the fire of the French entrenchments. Hand to hand fighting occurred between the British, and French with their Indian allies on the beach.
