Scenario Description
Johnson had a force of approximately 3,000 New England militia and a small group of Mohawk Indians. He established a fortified camp near Crown Point . Meanwhile, French General Dieskau had moved his men to within striking distance of Johnson and prepared to attack. This occurred when Johnson decided to split his force and sent a detachment seeking to find the French. Mohawks were to accompany them. Dieskau’s forces set up an ambush for the British detachment. As the British and Mohawks neared the ambush, the Iroquois tried to warn their Mohawk brothers, but much too late. As the forest opened up in a burst of musket fire the British detachment panicked and retreated back towards the fortified camp.
