Scenario Description
American Militia were undeterred by defeat and pursuit. A conglomerate of North and South Carolina Partisans made the decision to attack an encampment of British Regulars and Loyalists at Musgrove's Mill. They were unaware of the positions recent reinforcement which gave the British a total of 600 troops to the American's 300. Skirmishing North of the Mill early on the 18th ruined the American's hope of a surprise attack. It was also at this point that scouts realized the British did in fact hold decisive numerical advantage. American units quickly went into defensive mode, using logs and the terrain to create make shift barriers. These American militia were experienced frontier fighters, many with experience in various Indian related conflicts.

Battle Narrative
The Battle of Musgrove Mill, August 19, 1780, occurred near a ford of the Enoree River, near the present-day border between Spartanburg, Laurens and Union Counties in South Carolina. During the course of the battle, 200 Patriot militiamen defeated a combined force of approximately 300 Loyalist militiamen and 200 provincial regulars.
