Scenario Description
The hills around Boston presented a threat to the formidable British garrison located in the city. The redcoats were quite surprised when they noticed the Americans putting final details on fortifications located on Breed’s Hill. The response of bombardment from Her Majesty's Royal Navy was immediate but without great effect. The British commander William Howe decided that a fierce aggressive action was the appropriate response to this threat. A force Of 3,000 infantry made their way to the foot of the American position. Two assaults retreated, with good order, back down the hill. British casualties were tremendous. American Colonel William Prescott gave his men the famous order to not fire until they could see the whites of the red coats' eyes. Instead of volleys a continuous fire poured into the ranks. This kept the British lines from forming momentum.
