Scenario Description
The 36th finally entered Germany between Wissembourg and Altenstadt, but were now coming under fire from the fortified belt of the ‘Siegfried Line’. On the 20th of March, just five days after the initial move at Haguenau, the 141st Regiment was ordered to attack the solid defenses with three Battalions abreast. The attack with armored support, represented by this scenario, was repulsed. After another unsuccessful attack the 141st were to follow through a gap in the 142nd sector and begin mopping up the bunkers, ‘coaxing’ the defenders to surrender with concussive ‘beehive’ charges.
