Scenario Description
Although unknown to them at the time, the 11th Panzer Division had become the point of the spear in the largest tank battle in history (to that point). In some ways, it was the "first Kursk". This week long battle, referred to by some as the Bloody Triangle, would involve about 700 German tanks and armored cars versus over 5000 Soviet - more than 700 of which were T34s and KVs (almost half of what had been produced). Dubno became an important part of that battle and was attacked, almost by accident, in a pincer move - the 231st Recon Battalion and the 110th Panzer Grenadier Regiment coming from the north and south.

Dubno, Russia
Battle Narrative
The Battle of Brody was a tank battle fought between theist Panzer Group's III Army Corps and XLVIII Army Corps (Motorized) and five mechanized corps of the Soviet 5th Army and 6th Army in the triangle formed by the towns of Dubno, Lutsk and Brody between 23 and 30 June 1941. It is known in Soviet historiography as one of the "border defensive battles". Although the Red Army formations inflicted heavy losses on the German forces, they were outmaneuvered and suffered enormous losses in tanks. Poor Soviet logistics, German air supremacy and a total breakdown in Red Army command and control ensured victory for the Wehrmacht despite overwhelming Red Army numerical and technological superiority.
