12th Army Group Daily Situation Maps
Description
This collection contains the maps produced by the 12th US Army Group beginning on June 6, 1944 to May 8, 1945. Starting with the D-Day Invasion, the maps give daily details on the military campaigns in Western Europe, showing the progress of the Allied Forces as they push towards Germany. Each map is a picture of the day by day disposition of Allied and Axis forces as understood by the staff of the Twelfth Army Group. You can follow the flow of battle as the maps show the progress of the Allied Forces across France and the Low Countries and then into Germany.
It is easy to see the uncertainity of where units are located by hindsight. The best example of this is looking the the maps during the early stages of the Battle of the Bulge. It is not until the 20-22 of December that the full extent of the German forces involved become apparent on the maps.
